HONORING A LEGEND – Warriors’ Stadium will carry the name of the football coach who led FHS to state titles in the 1980s. The Board of Education on September 24 approved renaming Franklin High School’s Warrior Stadium as Len Rivers Stadium, honoring the former football coach who led the Warriors to two undefeated state championship seasons in the 1980s.

A second-quarter safety proved to be the undoing of the Franklin High School Warriors football team September 4 as they were defeated by the Colonia Patriots 16-14 in their season home opener. Junior Michael Rogers provided Franklin with both of its touchdowns, a 2-yard run in the first quarter and a 7-yard run in the second quarter.

Franklin High School’s football Warriors had a happy Homecoming, with a 40-22 win over Monroe on October 17. With the win, Franklin improves to 4-4 overall, and 1-1 in the Big Central – National Silver division.

Homecoming at Franklin High School served as the backdrop October 17 for Senior Nights for the school’s football and cheer teams, and marching band. Team members were introduced with their escorts, given commemorative pillows, and then given time for pictures.

The Franklin High School Warriors football team came close to snapping Sayreville’s unbeaten streak October 10, but a late-game rush by Sayreville capped the win for the Bombers, 37-28. The Warriors were within two points, 30-28, with slightly more than 2 minutes left to play when Sayreville Senior Shaun Jackson broke for a 19-yard run and touchdown.
