Five people were injured – and two had to be extracted – in a late-night automobile accident Oct. 1 on Route 27.
Police said that shortly before 10 p.m., Miguel Salazar-Maediola, 30, of Fort Lee, was driving a 2002 GMC Denali north on Rt. 27 when he attempted to make a left turn onto Village Drive. The Denali was stuck by a 2003 GMC Envoy, traveling south on Rt. 27 and driven by Nallely Rojas, 27, of East Windsor
In addition to the driver, a 50-year-old female from Plainsboro, a 5-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl, both from East Windsor, were also in the Envoy at the time of the crash, according to the release. Salazar-Mediola and the 50-yearold female passenger of the Envoy were trapped in the cars and needed to be extricated by firefighters, the release said
Officers from the North Brunswick Police Department responded to the scene to assist with traffic control that detoured motorists around the scene, according to the release. Emergency personnel from North Brunswick, Franklin Park, Griggstown, and Kendall Park responded to extricate victims from the crash and transport them to area hospitals.
All five occupants of the vehicles suffered injuries ranging from possible broken bones to complaints of pain, and were all transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
Charges have yet to be filed in this incident, according to the release.
