A 20-year-old Somerset man remains lodged in the Somerset County Jail, Somerville, on trespassing and drug-related charges.

Police said a tenant in a McNair Court home told police on Aug. 29 that she was in her room at around 3:45 p.m. when she thought she heard the first floor sliding glass door open. When she went to investigate, police said, she found Benjamin Young standing in her kitchen.

Young, police said, refused to leave until the woman’s boyfriend arrived.

Later, a township police officer saw Young, who matched the intruder’s description, sitting on the porch of a New Brunswick Road home. Young fled when the officer approached, police said, but he was soon caught.

Police said Young had marijuana on him when he was arrested.

Young was charged with 4th Degree Criminal Trespass and possession of under 25 grams of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense.

He was remanded to the Somerset County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
