Updated: Man In Serious Condition After Being Struck By Car On Easton Avenue

Update: Police have identified the injured man as Patrick McDonald, 71, of New Brunswick. McDonald suffered a non-life-threatening head injury, and is in stable condition at a local hospital, police said.

The car’s driver, Unab Javed, was cited for careless driving, police said.

Original Story: A 71-year-old New Brunswick man was in serious condition July 27 after he was hit by a car while crossing Easton Avenue.

Police said the man was struck at about 10:30 a.m. by a 2016 Mazda CX5 driven by Unab Javed, 27, of Somerset.

Javed told police that she was turning right from Castleton Avenue onto Easton Avenue when her car hit the man, who she said she did not see.

The man was unresponsive in the road when police arrived, according a release from township police. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

Easton Avenue was shut down for a period of time while members of the FTPD’s Traffic Safety Bureau investigated.
