Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced that the team has signed right-handed pitcher Ronnie Shaban.
Prior to joining the Somerset Patriots, Shaban spent his entire career in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, including games at Triple-A during the 2016 season.
The Midlothian, VA also has three seasons of service for the Cardinals at the Double-A level.
Shaban spent the majority of the 2016 season in Springfield (AA) and finished with an 8-3 record, a 3.11 ERA, and 40 strikeouts in 55.0 innings pitched over 42 games. He also appeared in 3.1 innings at Triple-A for Memphis last season.
Shaban has a minor league career 13-14 record, 3.29 ERA, 61 saves, and 197 strikeouts in 224.0 innings in 196 games pitched.
He has been activated for Sunday’s game against the York Revolution. To make room for Shaban, the Somerset Patriots have place left-handed pitcher Aaron Laffey on the inactive list.
