Rutgers Preparatory School students brought a little bit of the New Jersey shore into school March 11 with the opening of the 3rd Graders’ Argo Arcade.
The “arcade” consists of a number of games designed and built by the students, arranged along a cardboard “boardwalk.” The project is the kickoff to the school’s RPS Innovation Center.
The games were made of cardboard and other recycled materials.
The 3rd Graders received help with construction from Middle School students, as well as from the Upper School’s Architecture 2 class, which also helped with design.
The arcade was opened with a ribbon-cutting by school Headmaster Steven Loy. Loy told the the students that they had much to be proud of.
Township resident Matthew Piccoli designed a football game.
“It was a great experience to have m and my friends work on the football game,” he said. “We were very creative with our ideas and made a great game.”
Andy Fehl, also a township resident, helped design and build bottle ring toss game.
“It was fun,” he said. “I was with some of my best friends. We just wanted to do it because we thought it would be fun to play.”
Other township 3rd Graders involved in the project include Ryan Bathan, Liam Dennehy, Nicole Rajpurohit and Alex Varughese.
