A North Brunswick man was arrested on drug-related charges Feb. 12 after he allegedly made several drug sales to an undercover detective in the parking lot of a township restaurant.
Juan Jose’ Morales-Bustos, 28, was arrested in the parking lot of an unnamed Route 27 restaurant after allegedly selling an undercover detective assigned to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force 160 grams of cocaine.
The alleged sale was the sixth since Dec. 4, 2015, according to a press release on the arrest from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. Morales-Bustos sold the detective 165 grams of cocaine in the five prior buys, according to the release.
After his arrest, Morales-Bustos gave detectives permission to search his bedroom in his North Brunswick home, according to the release. The search resulted in the seizure of 1 gram of cocaine and drug paraphernalia including plastic bags, a spoon, a scale and a cutting agent.
The approximate street value of the cocaine seized in the arrest was set at $34,700, according to the release.
Morales-Bustos has been charged with 1st Degree Distribution of CDS (Cocaine), 3rd Degree Possession of CDS (Cocaine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Disorderly Persons Offense, according to the release.
Morales-Bustos was remanded to the Somerset County Jail, Somerville, on $200,000 cash bail, according to the release.
