Margaret Mary Wolf, 89, died on November 18 peacefully at her home in Franklin Township.
Known by her family and friends as Margie, she was born on May 25, 1935 in Sugar Notch, Pennsylvania to Catherine Shields Wilverding and John Wilverding. The youngest of six children, Margie grew up in Sugar Notch until the family moved to Plainfield.
Margie graduated from St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick. With an interest in nursing, Margie graduated from St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing and started her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Peters Hospital.
Margie met her husband, Marty Wolf, affectionately known as “Wolfie”, through friends and married in January, 1957. Interested in furthering her education, she graduated from Trenton State College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She pursued her interest in working with children and was hired by the Middlesex Board of Education as a School Nurse. After training at several schools in Middlesex, she found her “home schools” at Watching and Pierce Schools. She was a member of the New Jersey and National School Nurses Associations and National Education Association.
Margie and Wolfie would build their home in Franklin Township, where they would raise their family. Upon Margaret’s retirement from nursing, she took on many hobbies. She would spend leisure time either knitting and sewing with her “bestie” Margie Wolf Hatt, gardening, swimming or reading a good book. She also took tap dancing lessons and enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her visits to Walt Disney World with her granddaughter, Loralei. Her favorite ride… Rock & Roll Rollercoaster!
She is predeceased by her loving husband Martin J. Wolf Sr.; her parents John and Catherine Wilverding; her sisters, Kay, Mary and Patricia, and her brothers, John and Bobby.
She is survived by her daughter and granddaughter, Laura and Loralei Wolf of Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania; her son, Marty Wolf of Edgewater, Florida; her sister-in-law, Margie Wolf Hatt; her niece, Linda Hatt; her many Wilverding nieces and nephews, and the Husky granddogs, Nico and Wolfie.
Margie battled breast cancer and Alzheimer’s, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer’s Association in Margie’s name for those interested in honoring her memory.
