Valerio Rodriguez of Somerset was cited for careless driving Nov. 1 after he was involved in a collision with a car driven by Pamela Attanasio, also of Somerset. Attanasio told police that Rodriguez’ school bus made a left turn from Hamilton to Berry streets, directly in front of hers.

A leaf blower valued at $1,000 was stolen Nov. 1 from the back of a landscaping truck owned by Dean’s Greens. An employee told police he’d parked the truck at the rear of TD Bank on Route 27 and was blowing leaves in the front, leaving the truck open and unattended.

Kinsuk Shah of Somerset was cited Nov. 1 for careless driving after the car he was driving on Cottontail Lane went off the road and struck a utility pole. Shah told police that he suddenly lost control of the car on the wet road, but police said he was driving too fast.

A car driven by Brian Regan of DeMott Lane was stopped at the DeMott/John Collins Drive intersection, waiting to turn left, when it was struck from behind by a car driven by William Aldrich of North Brunswick. Aldrich told police that he tried to stop, but could not in time.

Amit Shah of Piscataway told police Nov. 1 that his car was slowing on Cedar Grove Lane, near Easton Avenue, when it was struck on the side by a grey SUV. Shah told police that he signaled to the driver to pull into the Drug Fair lot, but when he did, the other driver fled toward Route 287.

Cars driven Nov. 1 by James Bangura and Ava Foster, both of Somerset, collided at Hamilton Street and Norma Avenue. Foster told police that she was in the middle of her right turn from Norma to Hamilton when she saw Bangura’s car on Hamilton She said she unsuccessfully tried to stop.

Nathanae Severino-Lantigua of New Brunswick parked his car in a lot on Franklin Boulevard Nov. 2, not realizing that he left the car in reverse, police said. The car backed up and swung around in an arc, hitting a curb and a parked car owned by Joseph Chiles of Somerset.

Kamal Timbadia of East Windsor told police Nov. 2 that he was driving his truck down South Middlebush Road when a deer ran out in front of his vehicle. He said the deer struck his windshield, then ran off.

Melissa Nnanna, 29, of Somerset, was charged with shoplifting Nov. 2 after she allegedly left the Stop and Shop on Route 27 with about $20 worth of items. Police said a store security guard said he saw Nnanna leave the store after putting the items in her cart. Police said the security guard recovered a box of Steak Umm’s valued at $4, a bottle of Jurgen’s lotion valued at $8, a package of Dove deodorant valued at $4 and a package of Hot Pockets valued at $3. Nnanna was being held on $5,000 bail at the Somerset County Jail, Somerville, police said.

The rear window of a car owned by Stanislav Palval of Regency Drive was reported smashed on Nov. 2. The window’s value was set at $800.

A car valued at $5,000 was reported stolen Nov. 4 from a Holland Drive woman. The woman told police that she’d started the car to warm it up, and left it unlocked when she returned to her home. She went back outside about a half-hour later to find the car stolen.

Iline Richards of Princeton told police Nov. 4 that as she was driving down Route 518, her car started pulling to the right. She said she could not correct it and the car ran off the road and into a ditch.

A dumpster behind a Hempstead Drive building caught fire Nov. 4. The fire was extinguished by Community Fire Dept. No cause for the fire was given.

Someone cut into 6-foot-tall wire fencing around two Gary Court properties Nov. 4, police said. Estimated cost of the damage was $200.

Dan Xie of Somerset was cited for careless driving Nov. 4 after his car was involved in a collision with one driven by Gregg Allen of Kendall Park. Xie told police that he was tired from jet lag while driving on Cedar Grove Lane, and did not see Allen’s car stopped until it was too late.

Joseph Hitti was cited for careless driving Nov. 4 after his car collided at Franklin Boulevard and Ellen Street with one driven by Nyasia Echevarria of North Brunswick. Police said Hitti did not yield the right of way to Echevarria’s car while he was making a left turn onto Ellen Street.
