Student-Driven ‘Bound For Broadway’ Set To Debut At SGS
A musical revue created by students at the two Middle School campuses is set for its May 3 debut.
“Bound for Broadway” is a revue featuring excerpts from the Broadway shows “Annie,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Dear Evan Hanson,” “Sound of Music,” “Bring It On,” “The Wiz,” “The Producers,” “Legally Blonde,” and “Cinderella.”
Terri Seggio, the show’s director, said the students were at the helm through its creation.
“Cast members wrote the script to pull all the shows together to go along with the student chosen theme of ‘Have the confidence to finding yourself’ as a middle school student,” she said in an email. “This is a different feel than our full-scale winter musical, as it is more of a black box feel, where the actors and actresses are the focus not the costumes and set.”
“This show is fully student-driven as we have cast members who are not only performing but taking on the responsibility of stage managing, assistant directing , assistant choreographing, assistant musical directing and controlling lights and music,” she wrote. “We are really proud of this new concept for our middle schoolers who come from both campuses.”
The show will be presented at Franklin Middle School – Sampson G. Smith Campus, 1649 Amwell Rd. at 7 p.m. May 3 and 4 and 2 p.m. May 5. Tickets, which can be purchased at the door, are $8.
