Special December Events Planned at Quail Brook Senior Center

Special December events have been announced for the Quail Brook Senior Center on New Brunswick Road.


December 1 – 10:30 a.m. – Canal Walk Chorale Group Concert
Join the Quail Brook Senior Center for the holiday concert of the Canal Walk Chorale Group on Monday, Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m. This traveling chorus will perform holiday favorites and classics at this annual event.

December 2, 9, 16, 30 – 1:00 p.m. – The Art of Acrylics
Local artist Karen Haake will be teaching “The Art of Acrylics” on Tuesdays in December from 1 to 3:00 p.m. The course is $10 per week and the price includes all necessary art supplies for the week’s lesson. In week one, students will discover the different techniques and effects used with acrylic paints and learn how to use basic tools. In week two, students will learn more about mixing mediums. Small canvas paintings are the focus of week 3, and in week 4, students will apply their new acrylic artistry to pillow art.

December 3 – 10:30 a.m. – “Navigate the Mysteries of Medicare”
Laurie Roome, an educator with the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, will give a presentation titled “Navigate the Mysteries of Medicare” at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Laurie will be available after the presentation for a question and answer session.

December 3 – 1:00 p.m. – A Guide on How to De-Clutter, Get Organized, and Get Going
Theresa D’Auria from Organized to a T will be hosting the “How to De-Clutter, Get Organized and Get Going” workshop from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. She will teach attendees how to reevaluate their space, let go of clutter, and acquire new organizational tools and habits.

December 12 – 10:30 a.m. – “Let it Snow” Annual Quail Brook Christmas Party
The Quail Brook Senior Center invites the public to join in some holiday fun on Friday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m. DJ Jerry Castaldo will be on hand to play all the holiday hits. Special guests will include veterans from the VA Hospital at Lyons. The center invites the public to donate small gift bags of toiletries for the veterans who reside at the hospital. The center will be collecting these donations starting now until Dec. 10. For those who wish to make a lunch reservation, the menu will include a choice of roast beef or eggplant rollatini. Contact the center by Dec. 10 to make a lunch reservation.

December 18 – 10:30 a.m. – Hanukkah Celebration and “Creating New and Meaningful Friendships”
Celebrate the second day of the Hanukkah holiday with symbolism and traditional food tasting on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 10:30 a.m. Rabbi Kaplan will host a special program on how to stay connected to others and avoid isolation through friendship.

December 30 – 10:30 a.m. – Shingles Virus Clinic (Register by Dec. 15)
Rite Aid pharmacists will administer the shingles lifetime protection shot to registrants on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the Quail Brook Senior Center. Register for the program by Dec. 15. Be ready to provide insurance information at the time of registration.
