Somerset Man Wanted On Murder, Attempted Murder Charges

Update: Harriot surrendered to authorities at the Middlesex County Courthouse in New Brunswick at approximately 11 a.m. April 3, according to a release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation is still ongoing.

Harriot will be held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick pending an April 5 detention hearing, according to the release.

Original Story: Authorities are searching for a township man they say shot two men, killing one, outside an Edison restaurant on March 23.

Andrew Harriot, “aka” Drew Cash, 26, of Somerset is wanted on charges of 1st Degree Murder and 1st Degree Attempted Murder in connection with the incident that occurred outside the Akbar restaurant on Cortland Street in Edison, according to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Harriot is described as being 5’11”, about 200 pounds, with a ski mask tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Harriot was supposed to turn himself in to authorities on March 31, but never showed up, according to the release. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police say the shooting happened at about 1:56 a.m. outside the restaurant, where a Reggae concert was taking place.

Harriot allegedly shot Nahshonn Brown, 31, of Newark and an unidentified 40-year-old man from Ne2wark, according to the release. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, and teh other man was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital and treated for the gunshot wound. He has since been released.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is working with the Edison and Franklin police departments and other authorities to locate Harriot, according to the release. Anyone who is actively helping Harriot avoid arrest could be charged with a crime, authorities said.

In addition, Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc. is offering cash rewards to anyone who knows information concerning the whereabouts of Harriot and wants to notify authorities anonymously.

Callers may contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-939-9600 or may access the Crime Stoppers website at middlesextips.com. Text messages with information may also be sent to 274637 (CRIMES) with the keyword “midtip’’ followed by a message.

Those who call will be given instructions on how to collect rewards by using a numerical code that will be recognized by a local bank, which will pay the rewards following arrest of one or both individuals. Rewards also must be approved by Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc.
