Solar Arrays, Warehouse Win Planning Board Approval

Applications to install solar panel arrays on and around a private school and to build a large warehouse were approved April 21 by the Planning Board.

The application by EZNergy was to install solar panels on the roof and in the parking lot around the Center School on Riverview Drive. The Board was told that in addition to solar panels being installed on the building’s roof, four solar panel canopys would be installed around the building.

All of the power generated by the panels would be used by the school, the Board was told.

The application submitted by BREIT Industrial Canyon was for a 355,790-square-foot warehouse on 26 acres bordered by Elizabeth Avenue, Wiley and Belmont drives and Happer Street.

A current 196,000-square -foot warehouse and four single-family homes will be demolished to make room for the new warehouse, the Board was told.

Because of the lot’s size, and that fact that it has frontage along four streets, five driveways were proposed. The township’s zoning ordinance permits only two.

The Board unanimously approved both applications.
