Calavano1

Long-time Board of Education business administrator John Calavano has submitted his resignation.

John Calavano, the Board of Education’s business administrator and assistant schools Superintendent, has resigned.

Calavano said in an email that he submitted his 60-day notice on July 29.

Calavano, who has been with the district for 17 years, said he will become the business administrator for the West Orange school district.

Calavano’s departure marks the fourth high-level district administrator to leave since late last year.

In December, former personnel director Gail Reicheg left for a similar job in another school district. Former schools Superintendent Edward Seto left in January amid controversy, and Eveny Pagan, the district’s former assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and the interim superintendent after Seto’s departure, left for another district in March.

In May, former Franklin High School principal James Bevere resigned.
