The scheduled closing of Route 518 between Canal Road and Carroll Place has been delayed, according to a statement from Somerset County.

The three-quarter mile stretch was originally scheduled to be closed to all traffic between Nov. 10 and 24, and then during work hours from Nov. 24 through Dec. 23.

Unspecified delays led to the postponement of that schedule, according to the county. A new schedule has not yet been determined.

The $4.6 million project will entail realigning a curve, widening for new shoulders and installing new storm sewers. It’s expected to last until November 2015.

The curve realignment will entail blasting into the hillside, which is the reason for the complete road closures.

Traffic will be detoured down Routes 603 and 605.
