Dec. 30, 2014

Jenny Naranjo of Bridgewater was cited for careless driving after she was involved in an accident with a car driven by Victor Sinchi-Saldana of Bound Brook on Weston Canal Road. Police said Naranjo tried to pass the other car on the right when the two collided.

Judith Mitzner of Somerset was trying to park her car in the Shop-Rite parking lot on Elizabeth Avenue when she struck a parked car owned by Robert Chan of Somerset.

§

Levarr Molina of Somerset was cited for reckless driving after police said he ran a red light at Easton Avenue and Willow Road and collided with a car driven by Kenneth Jacocks of Edison. Molina was crossing Easton at the time.

Dec. 31

A car hit a fence on Spencer Street, near Holland Drive, after which the driver fled the scene.

§

A car driven by Joyce Bos of Somerset struck a parked car owned by Fannie Roney of Franklin while the latter car was parked in the Shop-Rite parking lot on Elizabeth Avenue.

§

Tracyann Laing of Franklin Park and Roshni Lulla of Belle Mead were cited for careless driving after they were involved in a three-car accident on Delar Parkway. A car driven by Stephen Kady of Kendall Park was stopping when it was rear-ended by Laing’s car. Laing’s car was then rear-ended by Lulla’s.

Luis Juarez-Perfecto of New Brunswick was cited for careless driving after his car rear-ended one driven on Route 27 by Anita Bragg of North Brunswick. Juarez-Perfecto said his car bucked forward as he was putting it into gear.

§

Jevon Burkett of Franklin Park was cited for careless driving after his car backed into a parked car, owned by Ibrahim Kerim-Basyouny of Monmouth Junction, in a Route 27 parking lot.

§

A car owned by Vanessa Giberna of Hillsborough was struck while it was parked on Route 27. The other driver fled the scene.

§

Earl Smith of Highland Park said he was driving on Easton Avenue when a car driven by Rebecca Amadi of Somerset pulled out from Bloomfield Avenue and the two collided.

Jan. 1

A cluster of exploding fireworks touched off a small brush fire on Holland Drive. Officer J. Mercogliano reported that he doused the fire with his fire extinguisher.

§

Someone slashed the passenger’s side tires on a car owned by a Holland Drive resident.

§

Edilberto Naya-Rojas of Renton, Wa. was driving down Atlantic Road when his car struck a parked car owned by Giovanni Castanbo-Arias of Somerset.

§

Christine Huh of Somerset was driving down School House Road when, she said, she swerved to avoid a deer. Her car jumped the curb and struck a PSE&G utility pole.

§

Stanley Cichowski of Monmouth Junction was cited for careless driving after he misjudged a turn in the Walgreen’s parking lot on Route 27 and his car jumped the curb and got stuck on it.

§

Amber Blue of Somerset and Kenneth Bongiovanni of North Brunswick were backing their cars out of parking spaces in a Route 27 lot when they collided.

Jan. 2

Young Hahn of Somerset was cited for leaving the scene of an accident after his car struck a parked car, owned by Rose Larangeira of Somerset, in an Elizabeth Avenue parking lot. Police said Larangeira’s daughter tracked Hahn down.

§

Frances Cue of Somerset told police her husband started their Jeep without realizing the car was in first gear. When the car started, it began moving forward, through their back yard, down a hill and then struck a brick wall bordering an Arlington Avenue property.

§

Alesha Clark of East Brunswick was driving down Norma Avenue when, she said, a car driven by Maria Olbei of Somerset made a quick left turn onto Martin Street ahead of hers, forcing Clark to swerve to the right and hit a curb. Olbei denied cutting Clark off.

§

Jan. 3

Michael Boutillette of Somerset told police that he was driving down Amwell Road when his car started to fishtail as he was rounding a curve. The car left the road, overturned and struck a mailbox, fence and tree. Boutillette was cited for reckless driving.

§

Wesley Tang of Franklin Park was cited for careless driving after his car backed into a parked car in a Route 27 lot.

§

A 42-year-old Old Bridge woman was arrested Jan. 2 for driving while under the influence after she was involved in a one-car accident on Bennetts Lane.

Police said Dawn Weniger was rounding the curve from Clyde Road to Bennetts Lane when her car ran off the road and struck a utility pole.

Police said Weniger said she was driving too fast and lost control of her car.

Karla Schacher of Piscataway told police that she was making a right turn from Stewart Avenue into the Walgreen’s parking lot when her car was struck by one driven by Daniel Rajasekaran of Franklin Park as he was turning into the lot. Rajasekaran told police that Schacher’s car came up suddenly and hit his, but Schacher said his car was on the median and he suddenly turned right.

Patrick Lilavois of Edison and Marc Walowitz of Manalapan were driving in separate lanes on Easton Avenue when a third car, driving in the left turn only lane, suddenly swerved into Lilavois’ lane. Lilavois said he slowed and veered to the right, when his car collided with Walowitz’s. The other car left the scene.

Jan. 5

A patch of grass near Bank of America at Worlds Fair Drive and Easton Avenue caught fire after a light pole shorted out. Police said the wind kept blowing power lines against the pole, which eventually shorted it out and sparked the fire. The Elizabeth Avenue Fire Department responded.

§

Two packages that were delivered to a Village Drive resident on Dec. 24, 2014 were reported stolen. The resident said he was notified by UPS that packages containing a Brooklyn Nets jacket valued at $75 and yoga pants valued at $75 were delivered to his doorstep, but he never saw them.

§

Someone dented the hoods of three cars parked in front of a Kee Avenue home sometime after Dec. 26, 2014.

§

A chimney fire forced Hillview Avenue residents out of their home for a short while. A resident told police that he was relaxing when suddenly smoke started pouring from his fireplace. He and his wife left the house and called 9-1-1.

§

Jennifer Tang of Monmouth Junction was driving in the left turn lane on Middlebush Road, near Suydam Road, when she misjudged the space between her car and one driven by Hetal Joshi of Kendall Park and the two collided.

§

Joan Scott of Middletown was slowing her car on Laurel Avenue when her foot slipped off the brake and her car rear-ended one stopped at the light, driven by James Kerins of Iselin.

§

Roman Tymchyshyn of East Brunswick was backing his car in a Route 27 parking lot when it struck a parked car owned by Francis McGorry of Doylestown, Pa.

§

Oscar Wilson was driving down DeMott Lane when a deer ran into his car.
