Patriots Offense Shut Down In 3-0 Loss To Bees

622mcbrydewebNew Britain, CT – Kyle Simon hurled a complete game two-hit shutout as the New Britain Bees (28-30) won the rubber match against the Somerset Patriots (34-25) 3-0 Wednesday evening at New Britain Stadium.

“He was throwing first pitch strikes all night long,” said Somerset Patriots Manager Brett Jodie. “He was challenging us and attacking us and we just didn’t square anything up.”

James Skelton hammered solo home runs (5) in the first and third innings while Greg Golson ripped an RBI double in the second inning.

Simon (2-1) earned the win. He retired the final 14 batters he faced and only allowed four base runners the entire night. Rudy Owens (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up five extra base hits and three runs in five innings of work.

Somerset continues its seven game road trip in Sugar Land, Texas this weekend.

“We’re looking forward to heading down south,” Jodie remarked. “They’ve kind of had our number this season, but we have a good club and we’ll see what happens.”

The 2016 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford continues on the road until the team returns to TD Bank Ballpark Monday, June 27th for a 7:05 p.m. game against the New Britain Bees.
