Patriots Fall Short To The Bees 4-3

917vidalwebNew Britain, CT – The New Britain Bees (35-34, 71-68) edged the Somerset Patriots (38-31, 76-63) 4-3 Saturday evening at New Britain Stadium.

 

“I thought I threw the ball well except Jon Griffin had my number tonight,” said starting pitcher Shaun Garceau. “But I think we all feel good about ourselves. These next few days are just about locking in and getting ready for Wednesday.”

 

The aforementioned Griffin clubbed a solo home run (11) in the fourth inning and a three-run home run (12) in the sixth inning.

 

Somerset rallied despite trailing 4-0 after six innings. Vinny Zarrillo banged into a double play to plate a run in the seventh inning. The very next batter was Aharon Eggleston who clubbed an RBI single.

 

David Vidal launched a solo home run (26) to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the eighth inning. Vidal is now tied with Jeremy Barfield for most home runs in the Atlantic League.

 

Kyle Simon (8-6) earned the win tossing seven innings while yielding two runs. Garceau (4-6) sustained the loss. He yielded four runs in six innings of work. Rob Bryson notched the save (5) tossing a perfect ninth inning
