Life Story: Stephen Geydoshek, 76; Teacher, Principal
Stephen J. Geydoshek, 76, passed away on May 15 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Geydoshek was born April 6, 1941 in Franklin, New Jersey the son of Stephen and Mary (Mickasawich) Geydoshek. He lived in Garfield for many years. Shortly after his retirement in 2005, he relocated and settled in Franklin Township.
Stephen earned his BA in Education from William Paterson University and his MA in Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University. Within the Garfield Public School system, he taught math and science for several years before he took on the role as principal.
Mr. Geydoshek was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Rotary Club. Stephen was also a coach for Babe Ruth Baseball. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, an adoring grandfather, a caring uncle and a dedicated educator; he will be sincerely missed by many.
Stephen is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 53 years, Lorna (Stefanco) Geydoshek; his son, Steven and his wife Maggie; his daughters, Laura and her husband James Zafian and Sharon and her husband Brian Garots; his brother, Michael Geydoshek and his wife Annette; his sisters, Teresa and her husband Joseph Luizzi and Ann and her husband Harvey Honig; his grandchildren, William, Erin and Brian Zafian and Emily Garots; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. His love of family is unsurpassed. His commitment to his wife and children will never be forgotten.
Family and friends may visit at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St. from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. May 18.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. May 19 at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church in Kendall Park. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum in East Brunswick.
