Life Story: Laura Anne van Der Veer, 61; Competitive Dancer

Laura Anne van Der Veer, 61, passed away on May 24 at St. Peter’s Medical Center in New Brunswick.

She was born in Wallington, NJ and lived for many years in South Amboy where she attended Sacred Heart grammar school and Hoffman High School. She moved to the Somerset section of Franklin Township 22 years ago.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church in New Brunswick. She was a competitive dancer and lived the spirit of Christmas year around.

She was pre-deceased by her parents Stanley and Helen Picklo.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, David Van Der Veer of Somerset. She is also survived by her sister Joan Graham and her husband John of south Amboy, brother Mark Picklo of Jackson, niece Danielle Rose and her daughter Kayleigh and nephew Christopher Picklo and his daughter Adriana.

Visiting will be held from 6-9 PM on Thursday May31 at The Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset . Services will begin on Friday June 1 at 9:15 AM at the funeral home followed by a 10 AM funeral mass at St. Peter The Apostle RC Church in New Brunswick.
