Life Story: Joanne Yorlano, 85; Longtime Township Resident

Mrs. Joanne Yorlano passed away on June 24 at Parker at McCarrick Care Center in Somerset. She was 85 years old.

Mrs. Yorlano was born in Newark and spent her childhood in Bloomfield. She married Salvatore Yorlano Sr. in 1954 and the couple raised their family in West Orange. They resided there for over 40 years. Mrs. Yorlano relocated to Somerset in 1998. She enjoyed the occasional trip to Atlantic City where she would play the slot machines.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Salvatore Sr. in 1994. She was also pre-deceased by her son Salvatore Jr. in 2016 and sisters Phyllis Core, Edythe Guarino and Margaret Marafino.

Mrs. Yorlano is survived by her son Anthony Yorlano and his wife Sharon of Somerset, sisters Gloria Guariglia, Josephine Parrello, and Maria Marra and her grandchildren Christopher and Corinne Yorlano.

Visiting will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.June 27  at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St. Funeral services for Wednesday morning are still pending but will be posted on www.gleason funeralhome.com.
