Lawyer: Data Center Addition Could Bring 40 Jobs To Township

3-5-14 meeting1

Engineer Thomas Fik describes an addition planed for Sentinel Datacenters building on Cottontail Lane.

A two-story, 160,000-square-foot addition to Sentinel Datacenters building on Cottontail Lane and Pierce Street could bring 40 new jobs into the township, the Planning Board was told at its March 5 meeting.

The company in 2009 converted what was a warehouse into a 168,000-square-foot data center, its attorney, Peter Lanfrit, told the board. He said the company had always planned on a second phase of construction at the site.

“At the time, we indicated we would be back in a few years, so here we are,” he said.

Lanfrit said the company now employs 40 people over three shifts and, with the addition, could double that number.

The project’s engineer, Thomas Fik, sad the property would have 217 parking spaces.

The addition will also offer office space rental, he said.

The addition, Lanfrit said, would look exactly like the existing building.

The board unanimously approved the plan.
