Kipnis Announces Run For U.S. Congress

Township resident Daryl Kipnis has announced that he is running to be the Republican candidate for the U.S. Congress from the 12th District.

Kipnis, an attorney by trade, unsuccessfully ran in 2017 for the seat held by state Sen. Bob Smith (D-17).

The Congressional seat is now held by Democrat Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, who was first elected to Congress in 2014, following the retirement of former Rep. Rush Holt.

The last Republican to hold the seat was another Franklin resident, former Mayor and Somerset County Freeholder Michael Pappas. Pappas served one term in the chamber, losing his re-election bid to Holt.
