Township Councilman Phil Kramer, right, reads commendation as former mayor John Clyde looks on.

The Township Council paid homage to one of its own at the Nov. 12 meeting, honoring former Mayor John Clyde with a commendation for his work on the Trails Advisory Committee.

Clyde recently resigned from the committee, a member of which he has been since 2005.

Clyde resigned “so others could participate as members, Township Councilman Phil Kramer said.

Clyde’s contributions to the advisory committee are “too numerous to mention,” Kramer said.

Clyde thanked the council for the commendation, reminding members that he would still remain active.

“You’re not getting rid of me,” he said. “I’m still going to go to the meetings.”

The council also was planing to honor committee member Frank McClaughlin, who did not attend the meeting.

Current Mayor Brian Levine called Clyde “an overall guy who contributes to our town. I aspire to be the statesman that he has become.”
