Barnstormers Take Game Over Patriots 5-3

aug02FINALLancaster, PA – The Lancaster Barnstormers (15-8, 43-50) defeated the Somerset Patriots (15-9, 65-29) 5-3 Sunday afternoon at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

 

In the top of the first inning third baseman David Vidal hammered a home run (4) to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.

 

Left fielder Aharon Eggleston slapped a RBI single to give Somerset a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning.

 

Lancaster got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning as center fielder Zach Collier stroked a RBI single making the score 2-1.

 

Anderson Feliz smacked a game tying home run (4) in the bottom of the fifth inning making the contest 2-2.

 

Shortstop Lance Zawadzki gave Lancaster a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning as he homered (12).

 

The Barnstormers added a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as the score grew to 5-2. Zawadzki and second baseman Yusuke Kajimoto each pounded RBI doubles.

 

Eggleston legged out a RBI fielder’s choice in the top of the ninth inning to cut the deficit to 5-3 which would be the final score.

 

Joe Gardner earned the win (5-3) tossing 6.1 innings while allowing two runs. Kyler Newby suffered the loss (7-3) in relief allowing two solo homers in two innings of work.
