Plans are being reviewed to redevelop the Econo-Lodge property into a Hilton brand hotel, an assisted living center and a convenience store/gas station.

A plan to redevelop the Econo Lodge property on Easton Avenue into a suite hotel, an assisted living center and a QuickChek convenience store are under review by township planning staff.

The application should go before the township Zoning Board of Adjustment in December, said Mark Healey, the township’s chief planner.

Plans submitted by the applicant, Engel Burman at Somerset, call for the razing of the Econo Lodge building and Venue 1850 banquet hall and lounge and replacing them with a Hilton Home 2 Suites hotel, a Bristal assisted living center and a QuickChek convenience store with a gas station.

Engel Burman, of Garden City, NY, has developed 12 Bristal assisted living centers in New York and one in New Jersey, in Woodcliff Lake.

According to the plans, the 107,468 square foot hotel would have four stories and 119 rooms, with 132 parking spaces.

The three-story Bristal would be 151,731 square feet and would have 136 units, 84 parking spaces and a pool.

The QuickChek would have indoor seating for 13, outdoor seating for eight and three fueling stations.

Healey said a new entrance would be created on Worlds Fair Drive, replacing the current entrance that has been deemed too dangerous because of its proximity to Easton Avenue.
