The 26th annual riding of the Tour de Franklin kicks off at 7:30 a.m. April 26th at the township municipal complex.

The tour, the major fundraiser for the Franklin Township Food Bank, features 10-, 25-, 40- and 62-mile rides, as well as a 1-5-mile neighborhood walk and a 1-10-mile ride or walk along the D&R Canal towpath.

This year, Mayor Chris Kelly ( R) will start the 62-mile ride while Township Councilman Phil Kramer (D-Ward 3) will start the 40-mile ride.

The day will also feature a free drawing for a new bicycle, lunch for all attendees and t-shirts, depending on availability.

Last year, more than 660 riders raised $63,000 for the food bank, according to a release about the event.

Riders from as far away as Rhode Island and Maryland participate in the event, according to the release.

The food bank saw its client list in 2014 increase 9 percent over 2013, with 10,924 visits by 2,057 clients, according to the release.
