Bees Shut Out Patriots In Rain-Shortened Game
Bridgewater, NJ – The New Britain Bees (31-33) defeated the Somerset Patriots (36-29) 3-0 in a rain-shortened game at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.
The Bees took the 3-0 lead in the fourth inning on a bases clearing triple by Michael Crouse.
The game was called due to rain with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Bees starting pitcher Josh Outman (2-3) picked up the win, giving up just one hit over 5.1 innings pitched. Patriots starting pitcher Will Oliver (0-1) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits in six innings pitched. He struck out nine batters in his return to Somerset.
“I think Will pitched pretty good,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. We wanted to get him in here and throw a pen to get him comfortable. “We didn’t have that luxury unfortunately. He just had the one bad inning and they took advantage.”
The 2016 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford continues at home on Wednesday, June 29th with a 7:05 pm game against the New Britain Bees. The game features Olympic Night and Senior Wednesday.
