Embattled schools Superintendent Edward Seto used his porti0n of the Oct. 17 Board of Education meeting to fire back at his detractors.

The school board in September voted to not offer Seto another contract when his expires at the end of this school year.

Seto, reading from a prepared statement, answered some of his critics and defended his record.

“While I support the right of individuals to be critical, I do not accept the mischaracterizations, misrepresentation and distortions contained in many of the statements,” Seto said. “I believe the statements are either politically motivated or are the result of the individuals not being adequately knowledgeable on a topic before they speak or a combination of both.”

Seto also read some emails sent to him by school board vice president Eva Nagy, in which she praised his leadership.

Nagy was one of the leaders in the move to not offer Seto another contract.

“How things have changed,” Seto said.

Several members of the public in prepared comments took Seto’s lead and blasted Nagy for her vote against him.

Seto abruptly left the meeting while it was still in progress.

District spokeswoman Mary Clark said Seto left the meeting because “he had not been feeling well all day yesterday.”
