Township Girl Badly Burned By Coffee, Transported To St. Barnabas

A 1-year-old township girl is being treated at the Burn Center at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, after she burned herself the afternoon of Aug. 23, police said.

The girl, a Smithwold Road resent, was running around her house and accidentally knocked over a pot of coffee on herself, township police Sgt. Philip Rizzo said in a press release.

The girl, who police did not identify, suffered a 2nd Degree burn from just below her neck to her belly button, according to the release.

EMTs and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital responded, the release said. She was transported to New Brunswick, where she was then flown by Medevac helicopter to St. Barnabas, the release said.
