More than 300 clients of the Franklin Township Food Bank received a special Christmas present this year: Dinner at the Stage House Tavern.
Conceived by Stage House marketing director Christine Woodbury and the food bank’s operations manager, Serena Bennerman, the evening saw the clients and their families dine on ham, turkey and all the fixings.
Volunteers from Stage House locations in the township and Scotch Plains and the food bank served the dinners.
“Taking care of the community is the most important thing we can do,” Moishe Davidesko, a co-owner of the restaurant, said in a press release about the event. “This is the first of many Christmas dinners to come. We are starting a tradition.”
The Stage House donated hams last Christmas and underwrote the food bank’s Summer Program, which provides additional to food to clients with children between the ages of 6-16 who would normally have 10 meals provided by the school district during the summer months, according to the release.
