The Franklin Township Baseball League’s 15 and under All Star team has won the Northern New Jersey Babe Ruth State Championship, and the league’s 8 and under team won the South Brunswick Viking Tournament.
The older team is now poised to play in the mid-Atlantic regional tournament, set for Aug. 1-8 in Niskayuna, NY.
The team, managed by Bob DaVoe, defeated Wood-Ridge 8-0 in the championship game on July 27. The team went undefeated during the tournament, outscoring their opponents 64-16, according to an email from the league’s Matthew Zavatsky.
The winner of the the New York tournament has the chance to advance to the Babe Ruth World Series.
The team is fundraising for the mid-Atlantic tournament, according to Zavatsky. Funds are needed to send 15 players and three coaches for 4 to 6 nights.
