Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have signed right-handed pitcher Bobby Blevins. He will be activated for Tuesday night’s game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and is expected to start.
Blevins enters his first season with the Somerset Patriots and his seventh season overall in the Atlantic League. He has previously played for the Long Island Ducks (2012, 2013-2016) and the Sugar Land Skeeters (2017).
His best year in the Atlantic League came with Long Island in 2014 when he was 9-5 with a 2.95 ERA and 119 strikeouts in 189.1 innings pitched in 27 games, all as a starter.
Last season in Sugar Land, the Briarcliff Manor, New York native went 7-7 with a 4.85 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 133.2 innings pitched in 27 games (23 started).
Blevins was originally drafted in the 13th round of the 2007 MLB Amateur Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he spent the first four seasons of his professional career.
Blevins also played three seasons with the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League from 2012-2014.
He has a career 4.20 ERA and 946 strikeouts over 1,443 innings pitched in 278 games.
