Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have acquired infielder Nate Coronado from the Ottawa Champions of the Can-Am League for future considerations.
Coronado will be entering his first season with the Somerset Patriots and was in his third season in the Atlantic League, having spent the part of this year with the Lancaster Barnstormers. He previously played for the Barnstormers in 2017 and the Camden Riversharks in 2015.
In 29 games for the Barnstormers this season, the Philadelphia native hit .277 with 14 runs scored, 26 hits, four doubles, a triple, three home runs and 13 RBI. Prior to joining Lancaster, he played in ten games for Tampa, the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
Coronado hit .333 with 32 runs, 69 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 38 RBI for the Barnstormers during the 2017 season. That year, he also appeared in five games with the Colorado Rockies Rookie club Grand Junction and hit three homes runs and drove in seven runs.
He has a minor league career .298 batting average with 114 hits, 17 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs and 62 RBI in 113 games.
Coronado has been activated for Saturday night’s game against the Long Island Ducks in Central Islip.
