A Somerset family’s creation will be among the dozens of trees at the 36th annual “Festival of Trees” at the Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Rd., Basking Ridge.
The Lyons’ family’s tree is entitled, “Peace and Goodwill.”
Presented by the Somerset County Parks Commission Environmental Education Center’s naturalists, the display will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 6-29, except for Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.
The trees in the display were designed and created by local groups, businesses and individuals who select the theme and decorate with their own personal artistic ability, according to a press release on the event.
Refreshments will be available at the Snowflake Cafe.
Live holiday music will be presented on weekends by professional and amateur performers. A schedule of performers is available by calling the Environmental Education Center at (908) 766-2489 or on the website at www.somersetcountyparks.org.
There is a suggested donation of $5 per person. Groups of 12 or more who schedule in advance will receive a 20 percent discount. Disadvantaged or disabled groups will be admitted for free. Proceeds from the event help support educational and community service programs at the EEC.
