Julia Presley was re-elected president of the Board of Education and Eva Nagy was elected vice president during the board’s rescheduled reorganization meeting.
Presley and newly elected board members Christine Danielsen and Nancy LaCorte were sworn into their terms during the meeting.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Jan. 2, but had to be postponed due to the snow storm.
Presley is in her second term, Danielsen is a board newcomer and LaCorte returned to the board after serving from 2006-2013.
Neither Presley’s nor Nagy’s elections were unanimous.
Running against both was board member Robert Trautman. Presley won the president’s seat by a 5-3 vote – board member Delvin Burton had not yet arrived when that vote was taken – and Nagy won the vice president’s seat by a 5-4 vote.
Supporting the eventual winners in both races were board members Richard Arline, Keisha Smith-Carrington, Betty Whalen and Presley and Nagy.
Danielsen, LaCorte, Trautmann and, later, Burton, supported Trautmann.
