Patriots Sweep Double Header And Series

gamerecapupdate5114g2Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Camden Riversharks 5-2 in the second game of a double header on Thursday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark.

The Riversharks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI double by Alex Hudak.

Somerset answered with two runs in the bottom of the third when a run scored on an error and a fielder’s choice that allowed Robbie Widlansky to reach base safely.

Camden tied up the game on an RBI single by Hudak in the top of the fourth inning.

The Patriots regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI groundout by Widlansky for a 3-2 advantage.

Somerset continued to capitalize on Camden’s mistakes, plating a run in the bottom of the sixth on a bases loaded walk to Jonny Tucker and an RBI fielder’s choice by Nate Spears for the 5-2 final score.

Patriots starter Erik Arnesen (1-0) picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings pitched. Riversharks starter Jay Voss (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing three runs- one earned -on a hit in 4.1 innings pitched. Mike DeMark picked up his first save of the season with a scoreless inning pitched.
