National Adoption Day Focuses on Birth Certificates

Supporters of adoptee birth certificate rights will change their Facebook profile pictures to this graphic on Nov. 23.

Adoptee advocates around the country will turn their attention to securing original birth certificates during the 8tha annual National Adoption Day observances on Nov. 23.

Advocates are asking supporters with face book accounts to change their profile pictures to a pink graphic with the words, “Got your birth certificate? Adoptees don’t.”

Adoption events are taking places in cities around the ocuntry. Locally, an event is set for 9 a.m. in Kennedy Square, New Brunswick. As many as 15 adoptions will be finalized after a press conference. Each family will receive a commemorative plaque and gifts for themselves and their child.
