A township-based wealth management firm was named one of two $100,000 grant recipients from the Toigo Institute for Leadership Excellence Advancement and Diversity (I-LEAD)’s “Bridge to Business Initiative.”

The firm, Momentum Advisors, was founded by township resident Allan Boomer, a Toigo Fellow.

The program’s mission is to support the successful launch and growth of Toigo alumni-owned finance businesses. Momentum Advisors was chosen for its distinctive business model, team cohesion and growth potential, according to a release about the grant.

Boomer founded the company in Manhattan. N.Y. in February 2012.  The firm currently manages $35 million in assets, with its focus on integrating financial planning – life insurance, estate planning, charitable planning, budgeting and lending – with discretionary investment management, according to the release.

“Unlike many wealth management firms which design the asset allocation and then outsource the investment management, we are intimately involved in all aspects of portfolio construction, including security selection,” Boomer said in the release. “Through this grant, the Toigo mission will come full circle, as the firm will grow to become a major player in the industry, provide substantial recurring support to Toigo, and ultimately become a choice employment destination for future Fellows.”

“This year’s round of applicants included a talented group of Alumni who presented business plans reflecting all sectors of finance,” Nancy Sims, president and CEO of Toigo, said in the release. “This pool allows Toigo to continue its support to this multifaceted industry we serve.  We remain enthusiastic about their success and continued commitment to Toigo’s principles.”

Momentum Advisors’ clientele includes “a select group of entrepreneurs, executives and professional athletes who demand the same excellence in their advisors that they have demonstrated in their own lives,” according to the release. Momentum is a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Committed to changing the face of finance, the Robert Toigo Foundation inspires and supports minority MBAs as they earn their graduate degrees and pursue successful careers in the field of finance, according to the release.
