Lancaster, PA – The Lancaster Barnstormers (6-3) defeated the Somerset Patriots (6-3) 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Stormers have won two of the first three games of this four game wrap around weekend series.
In the top of the first inning second baseman Nate Spears scored a run via a balk by the pitcher Cody Scarpetta as Somerset took an early 1-0 advantage.
First baseman Bobby Kielty launched a long solo home run (1) to left field as Lancaster tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning.
Lancaster broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh inning when left fielder Fred Lewis smacked a solo home run (1) to right field to put the Barnstormers on top 2-1 which would be the final score.
Kyle Blair (1-0) earned the win in relief. Mike DeMark (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. Brodie Downs notched his first save of the season pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
