Fresh off a victory at the Skyland Conference championships, the Franklin Township High School boys’ bowling team defeated the Hillsborough High School Raiders on its way to capturing first place in the Group III state sectional championships Feb. 8 at Carolier Lanes, North Brunswick.
Next stop: The NJ state championships next week.
Powered by seniors Nick Chow and Sergey Eccles, both of whom qualified for the Feb. 12 individual championships, the team’s pin count totaled 3,018 to lead all teams in the group, coach Ken Margolin said.
Chow led all Franklin bowlers with 707 (206, 245, 256), followed by Eccles with 687 (257, 183, 247).
Senior Kevin Greene rolled a 594 (203, 184, 207); Sophomore Dylan Coker totaled 541 (199, 183, 159); Junior Joe Thigpen bowled two games for a 330 total (133, 197) and Senior Muntasir Cooper rolled one game, a 159.
State finals are 9:30 a.m. Feb. 14.
