Girls’ Soccer

The Franklin High School girls’ tennis team increased their winning streak to two matches September 22 with a 4-1 win over Warren Hills/Belvidere High School. Also on Tuesday, girls’ soccer fell to Gil St. Bernards, 6-0 and the girls’ volleyball team lost to Delaware Valley, 2-1.

The Franklin High School Lady Warriors got off to a quick start in their September 8 match against West Windsor-Plainsboro South, but could not sustain it in a 4-2 loss. Sophomore Danielle Chavez put the Lady Warriors on the board less than a minute into the match with a high blooper that went through the hands of South’s goalie.

The Franklin High School Girls’ Soccer team made senior night special on October 16, beating St. Thomas Aquinas 7-1. Franklin took a fast lead in the first half, outscoring Aquinas 3-0.

Senior Night for the girls’ soccer team was held October 16 before the match against St. Thomas Aquinas. The girls were given the red-carpet treatment, a plushie, and opportunities for pictures.

More than a dozen Franklin Warriors on May 9 signed commitment papers to play their respective sports for colleges across the country. The 16 athletes represented football, baseball, women’s wrestling, swim, track and field, and women’s and men’s soccer.

A dozen seniors on the Franklin High School girls’ soccer team were honored October 22 during the annual Senior Night Celebration. The ceremony was held before the squad’s match against Colonia, which ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Franklin High School Lady Warriors soccer team earned their first victory on September 16 by beating Union 2-1. Junior Sinai Kelliehan scored both goals for the Lady Warriors, both of which came in the first period.

The Franklin High School girls’ soccer teams’ woes on the pitch continued September 19 as the Lady Warriors fell to Immaculata High School 5-0. Unbeaten Immaculata scored two goals in the first half and three more in the second half to cement the win.

The Franklin High School Lady Warriors’ soccer team dropped their season-opening game to Hillsborough on September 7, 1-0. Hillsborough scored its loan goal in the first half, and held on to the lead to take the match.

The Franklin High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams won their opening rounds in the Somerset County tournament October 10 in back-to-back games in Warrior Stadium. Not only did both teams win, but they won by identical scores: the boy’s bested Immaculata 6-0 while the girls’ topped Manville, 6-0.
