Bullpen Pitches 8.1 Scoreless Innings As Patriots Snap Losing Streak

Bridgeport, CT – The Somerset Patriots (18-9) snapped their season-long four game losing streak by defeating the Bridgeport Bluefish (9-17) 6-2 Wednesday in the night cap of the day-night doubleheader. The bullpen was stellar, hurling 8.1 scoreless innings and only surrendering three hits. 14 of the final 15 Bluefish batters were retired.

“I’ve only been here for a couple of days, but I could sense we really needed a win,” said Donovan Hand, who made his Somerset debut by firing 2.1 scoreless frames. “I was called upon earlier than expected, but I just wanted to get out there because I hadn’t pitched in three weeks since I got back from playing in Taiwan.”
