Bees Swarm Back And Edge Patriots 7-6

68robinsonwebNew Britain, CT – From the sixth inning on the New Britain Bees (23-21) scored seven unanswered runs to sting the Somerset Patriots (25-21) 7-6 Wednesday evening at New Britain Stadium. Michael Crouse delivered a walk-off RBI double with two outs in the ninth inning as the Bees clinched the series over the Patriots.

“Our offense was doing great, but then things got away from us a little bit,” said starting pitcher Darin Gorski who had a no hitter for 5.1 innings. “These are the same guys in the clubhouse that went 13-0. We have a really good shot at bouncing back because we have the right character and mindset.”

Mycal Jones laced a two RBI single in the fourth inning and Trayvon Robinson cranked a grand slam (6) in the fifth inning to give Somerset a 6-0 cushion.

Gorski was cruising as he lost his no hitter in the sixth inning with one out. On his 95th pitch he surrendered a home run to Jovan Rosa (7). Gorski got a no decision, but he was stellar. The southpaw allowed one hit and one run in six innings of work while striking out a season-high seven batters.

“I’m one of those guys who checks the scoreboard often just to see what guys are do up so I definitely knew I had a no hitter brewing,” Gorski said with a smile. “I made an adjustment with my shoulder in my delivery in between starts and I felt strong tonight.”

The Bees scored five runs all with two outs in the seventh inning. Both Anthony Hewitt and James Skelton recorded RBI doubles. Craig Maddox drew a bases loaded walk to plate a run. Jonathan Roof drilled a game tying two RBI single.

The Bees won in walk-off fashion for the fourth time this year. Somerset had been 18-4 when leading after six innings.

Shaun Gilblair earned the win (2-0). Brandon Sisk suffered the loss (0-2).
