York Rallies Late To Earn Series Sweep

York, Pennsylvania – The York Revolution (28-19, 56-62) were down to their final out before rallying for two runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Somerset Patriots (20-26, 62-54) 5-4 in Thursday night’s series-finale at PeoplesBank Park.

The Revolution broke the ice in the bottom of the third inning on a Jared Mitchell RBI groundout and an Isaias Tejeda two-out RBI single, but the Patriots immediately responded. The very next half inning, RBI singles from Olmo Rosario, Yovan Gonzalez and Mark Minicozzi gave Somerset a 3-2 lead.

York later tied the ballgame with a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh, topped off by a bloop-RBI single from Tejeda.

The Patriots regained a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning on a Carlos Guzman sacrifice fly, but the Revolution rallied for two two-out runs in the bottom of the ninth – highlighted by an RBI single from Dayron Varona and a walk-off RBI single from Chase Simpson – to win the ballgame.

Michael Click (2-0) earned the win after allowing one run in the ninth inning. Ronnie Shaban (4-5) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning to take the loss.

The Patriots return home Friday night to take on the Bridgeport Bluefish. First pitch at TD Bank Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with a postgame fireworks show presented by Hunterdon Healthcare.
