Two Cars Catch Fire In Township Driveway

Fires in two cars in one driveway were extinguished Feb. 29 before they spread to a Jurocko Avenue home, police said.

A 9-1-1 call reporting the fires was phoned in at about 10:25 p.m., according to a press release from the township police department.

Arriving officers found a 1997 Toyota Corolla and a 2013 Hyundai Sonata fully engulfed in flames, which were inching toward the home, according to the release.

Two township police officers, Richard Livingston and Anthony Chiarello, ensured that the home’s occupants had escaped while fire fighters from East Franklin and Community Volunteer Fire Companies extinguished the blaze before it reached the home, according to the release.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the fire started in the Corolla and spread to the Hyundai, the release said., and does not appear to be suspicious.
