Clyde Road accident cleanup4

Workers at the scene of a Sept. 16 accident on Clyde Road, in which a truck pulled down some overhead power lines, snapped the utility pole and caused a fire.

An Andover man was cited for careless driving Sept. 16 after the truck he was driving pulled down some power wires and a utility pole on Clyde Road.

The accident sparked a fire and caused scattered power outages in the area.

Police said Kevin Miller was driving a 2005 Peterbuilt truck, hauling a roll-off Dumpster, on Clyde Rd. when an arm on the truck that was not lowered caught some power lines.

The truck pulled down the lines, which snapped the utility pole and caused the fire, police said.

The fire was extinguished by township firefighters, and PSE&G is on scene repairing the damage. Police said the repair was expected to last into the afternoon rush hour.

Clyde Rd. was closed between Jiffy Road and Commerce Drive during the repairs.

Police did not report any injuries.
