Township To Seek Bids For New Liquor License

The township will soon accept bids for a new plenary retail consumption liquor license.

Based on the last census which showed there are 62,300 people in the township, state regulations allow the township to issue five of the liquor licenses, which are used by bars and taverns.

Th minimum bid for the license will be set at $200,000, according to a resolution passed by the Township Council at its Oct. 28 meeting.

According to the plan in the resolution, bids will be accepted up to noon on Dec. 3.

All qualified bidders will be announced at noon on Dec. 14, and the sealed bids will be opened at the municipal building at noon on Dec. 17.

The council will award the contract, if a vendor is chosen, at the Jan. 13, 2015 council meeting.
