Township Democrats Hold Annual Picnic, Gear Up For November’s Election

Township Democrats gathered in Colonial Park July 22 for their annual summer picnic.

There was the usual hamburgers and hot dogs, watermelon and desserts, but this year saw something new: freshly made pizza.

The pizza was courtesy of state Assemblyman Joe Danielsen (D-17), who brought with him three propane-powered pizza ovens.

Danielsen, who worked in a township pizza shop while he was in college, and friend Pat Shimalla made a variety of pies, from plain to the works, which in this case was mushrooms, pepperoni and sausage.
