Taxes At Work: Township Council Awards More Than $450,000 In Contracts

Contracts worth more than $450,000 were awarded Oct. 10 by the Township Council.

The council approved a $400,000 contract with Total Lawn Care & Landscape Services of Somerset for 20 snow plowing routes for the 2017-2018 snow season.

The rate for the contract is $175 per hour for each truck, and the contract can be extended for two additional snow seasons.

Total Lawn Care was the only company that submitted a bid.

The council also approved a fourth extension of the contract with Hawk Graphics of Mt. Freedom to design and print the township’s newsletters for the Winter of 2017 and Spring and Fall 2018 issues.

The $45,000 contract, originally approved in 2013, can be extended once more.

The council also approved the $13,970 purchase of a guillotine pipe cutter for the township water department from Lincolnshire, Il.-based E.H. Wachs. The purchase includes $10,865 for the cutter, with additional blades and drives bringing the total to the contracted amount.
